Tom Wright

Tom Wright, better known as N.T. Wright, consistently bridges the distance between the Church, the academy, and civil society. Wright’s For Everyone commentary series on the Pauline letters and the four gospels has been a great resource for pastors and laity. His book Simply Christian is celebrated by some as the most helpful and thorough introduction of Christian belief since CS Lewis’ Mere Christianity. In the academy, Wright has persuasively argued for bodily resurrection, a fresh perspective on Paul, and a vision of Jesus grounded in first-century Judaism. These arguments are most fully set forth in his groundbreaking series Christian Origins and the Question of God. Wright is also distinguished for his reflections upon and engagement in civil society. He often points out the political implications of the Lord’s Prayer and has characterized Scripture as a “sourcebook for a kingdom critique of oppression.” He also lectures frequently on debt relief, referring to it as “the number one moral issue of our day.” In an age where scholars all too often forsake the Church, Wright sets the standard - and raises the bar - for using the pulpit and the pen to edify the global body of Christ.
